Whisky – Uisge-Beatha – The Water of Life
Whisky is diverse – each region and each distillery has it’s own style. It can be heavy or light, dark and intense, fresh and fruity, smokey, salty, or a combination of many other characteristics – which is impressive considering all whisky is made from the same basic ingredients.
There to be appreciated and enjoyed rather than knocked back like there’s no tomorrow, enjoying a bottle with friends and trying to identify the flavours and aromas present can make for many unforgettable evenings.
Whiskometry was started as a project to delve a little deeper into the world of whisky. We saw the creation of this site as the perfect method not only to motivate us in our pursuits but also to document everything that we learn and hopefully provide you with some valuable information to help you on your own whisky journey.
Take a look around and feel free to contact us if you have any questions, remarks, criticisms or requests.
Enjoy, cheers and slàinte

A 6,524-yard-long links course awaits golfers who play the Machrie and includes some breath-taking views along the coast. In the last week of May, Feis Ile celebrates everything about Islay's culture and heritage. From traditional music, ceilidhs, poetry, Gaelic lessons, golf, and whisky tasting, there is something for everyone. Of course, the distilleries also have open days during the week and special bottlings for the festival are released. Peat Smoke & Spirit (Andrew Jefford) - One of my favourite books.
